{"id":71,"date":"2005-05-23T23:08:03","date_gmt":"2005-05-23T23:08:03","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=71"},"modified":"2015-07-21T11:17:40","modified_gmt":"2015-07-21T10:17:40","slug":"voip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.adamsweet.org\/?p=71","title":{"rendered":"VoIP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been looking at VoIP recently after hearing a lot and then reading <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adrianbradshaw.co.uk\/?p=64\">Ade&#8217;s<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adrianbradshaw.co.uk\/?p=63\">VoIP<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adrianbradshaw.co.uk\/?p=62\">posts<\/a> and have installed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntulinux.org\/\">Ubuntu<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linphone.org\/?lang=us&#038;rubrique=1\">Linphone<\/a> package. It didn&#8217;t seem to work at first as I couldn&#8217;t contact the sipomatic test program, but then, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linphone.org\/doc\/us\/manual\/x36.html\">the manual<\/a> didn&#8217;t say that I had to start sipomatic manually before making the test call. So I did just that &#8211; started sipomatic manually, called it and it worked. Yay. Sadly I don&#8217;t have anyone to talk to that I know of and I have to work out how to get it through my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smoothwall.org\/\">smoothwall<\/a>. I don&#8217;t fancy trying to set up a sip proxy so that the outside world can talk to me.<\/p>\n<p>I might have a look at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skype.com\/\">Skype<\/a>, just to see what the difference is. Yeah, yeah, let the free software people rain down on me with complaints. I just want to see how it compares. I&#8217;d also like to look at <a href=\"http:\/\/asteriskathome.sourceforge.net\/\">asterisk@home<\/a> at some point, as it&#8217;s all employable skills, but I&#8217;m a little too busy at the moment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been looking at VoIP recently after hearing a lot and then reading Ade&#8217;s VoIP posts and have installed the Ubuntu Linphone package.
